The Research Project

How Can Social Leaders Drive Change Without Burning Out?

The project tackles this urgent question by exploring how certain skills of navigating complexity can help leaders of Social Purpose Organizations (SPOs)* thrive while creating impact. From poverty to climate change, SPOs are on the frontlines of today’s biggest challenges—but their leaders often face relentless pressure, caught between caring for others and caring for themselves. By combining cutting-edge research in leadership, mental health, and organizational theory, the research team applied a user-centered approach to develop a training that boosts resilience and enables more sustainable leadership. Our goal? To empower changemakers with the best tools to lead effectively and stay well, because a healthier world starts with healthier leaders.

*Social Purpose Organizations (SPOs): Refers to all types of organizations established to achieve a social/environmental mission. This includes social and green businesses/start-ups, income-generating nonprofits/welfare organizations, and all other hybrid organizations.
